Question :    Thanks Dear for reply. U discuss only Adsl. i wnat to know some thing about DSL Spectrum.
Answer:    Hello. Ok i am trying to Define DSL, but also please check this link for more details: http://64.233.183.104/search?q=cache:69rbA71kNyUJ:net3.argreenhouse .com:8080/dsl-test/Help/SM_paper.pdf+DSL+spectrum&hl=en&gl=pk&ct=clnk &cd=1 just copy the link above and paste to your browser. Ok DSL Digital Subscriber Line: DSL is a common residential broadband connection. It assumes digital data does not require change into analog form and back. With a DSL modem, digital data is transmitted to a computer directly without conversion, which allows the telecommunications company to use a much wider bandwidth for transmitting it to their customer, resulting in higher maximum data transfer rates. Typical maximum data transfer rates are generally 384 Kbps for downloads and 128 Kbps for uploads. ---------------------------->OR<---------------------------------- Digital subscriber line. A public network technology that delivers high bandwidth over conventional copper wiring (such as telephone lines) at limited distances. There are five types of DSL: ADSL, HDSL, IDSL, SDSL, and VDSL. All are provisioned through modem pairs, with one modem located at a central office and the other at the customer site. Because most DSL technologies do not use the whole bandwidth of the twisted pair, there is room left for a voice channel. Hope it will help you... Insha Allah

Question :    Thanks dear shah Hussain. What is the differnet b/w Broad band and baseband communication? Also tell me some thing about Adsl Spectrum.
Answer:    Hello Dear Shabeer Sb. Sorry for late response. ADSL:- (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line). One of the most exciting types of technology for providing digital service across the local loop goes by the name Digital Subscriber Line (DSL). In fact, there are several variants. Because the names differ by the first word, the set is collectively referred to by the acronym xDSL. Perhaps the most interesting xDSL technology is known as Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL). From a subscriber's point of view , ADSL provides the ability to send and receive digital information at high speed. As the name implies, however, the service is asymmetric, In the case of ADSL, the asymmetry arises from the bit rate the available bandwidth is divided to make the bit rate in one direction much higher than in the other. To understand the motivation for asymmetry, think of how an average person uses the internet. Most of the traffic is generated when the person browses the web or downloads files in each case the traffic that the individual sends out to the internet consists of short request (e.g. a few bytes of data). However, the traffic that flows back from the internet to the user can contain millions of bytes of data (e.g.. digitized images). To distinguish the two directions, professionals use the term downstream refer to data flowing out to the user. and upstream to refer to data flowing out to the user. and upstream t refer to data flowing from the user. The subscriber loop can be optimize for asymmetric traffic by allocation the bandwidth to provide a higher bit rate in the downstream direction, We can summarize: ADSL is a local loop technology that is optimized for typical users who receive much more information than they send. To accommodate such use ADSL provides a higher bit rate downstream (i.e. to the subscriber) than upstream ( i.e. from the subscriber to the provider). See more details form the book "Computer and internets Networks with internet Application". page No 188. Baseband Technology. The term used to describe networking technology that uses a small part of the electromagnetic spectrum and send only one signal at a time over the underlying medium. Most LANs use baseband signaling (e.g. Ethernet and FDDI). Broadband Technology:. The term used to describe a networking technology that uses a large part of the electromagnetic spectrum to achieve higher throughput rates. Usually broadband systems employ frequency division multiplexing to allow multiple, independent communications to proceed simultaneously over a single underlying medium.
